Camping on the New River

One of the oldest rivers in the US, the deceptively named New River flows through some of North Carolina’s best mountain scenery. A designated National Wild and Scenic River, the tranquil New River is best explored by tube, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. The shallow, gentle, crystal clear mountain water makes it suitable for beginners including swimming at many points along the river. There are nearby hiking trails ranging from short, easy jaunts to strenuous trails.

The fee for renting a bike is $10.00 a day.
